"Alan Wake 2 Surpasses 2 Million Sales, Turns Profitable"

May 03,25

Alan Wake 2 has surpassed 2 million sales globally, a significant increase from the 1.3 million copies sold between October 2023 and March 2024. This achievement has led developer Remedy to celebrate the horror sequel as its fastest-selling game to date.

In its recent financial report to investors, Remedy highlighted that this sales milestone, along with the launch of The Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, signifies that the game has begun to generate royalties, having successfully recovered its development and marketing expenses.

Looking to the future, Remedy is also making strides with other projects. Control 2, developed in collaboration with Annapurna, is nearing the end of its production readiness phase and is set to enter full production by the end of February 2025. Similarly, the Max Payne 1&2 Remake is steadily advancing in its full production stage.

Remedy's multiplayer spin-off from the Control universe, FBC: Firebreak, is also progressing well. Following a successful closed technical test in December that focused on matchmaking and back-end services, FBC: Firebreak is on track for a self-published release later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's upcoming strategy period, stating, "We are in a great place to begin our strategy period and have set targets we are confident in reaching."

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 was highly favorable, giving the game a 9/10 and praising it as a "superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison."
