Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 PC Now Under $3,000

High-end prebuilt PCs often come with a hefty price tag, but savvy shoppers can save hundreds of dollars by snagging a great deal. Currently, Dell is slashing prices on the Alienware Aurora R16 equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090, bringing it down to just $2,899.99 after a whopping $1,000 instant discount. This marks the first time in months that an RTX 4090 gaming PC has been available for under $3,000. With RTX 4090 graphics cards on the rise again, purchasing a standalone card could set you back at least $2,000 from reputable vendors, making DIY builds less cost-effective than you might expect. Opting for a prebuilt PC also means you benefit from an all-inclusive warranty.

$3,699.99 save 22% $2,899.99 at Alienware

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC boasts an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF stands out as the top Intel gaming CPU currently available, excelling in both gaming and productivity tasks. While it's known for running hot, the system includes a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler to keep temperatures in check. Powering the entire setup is a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 4090 is the pinnacle of GPU performance, outshining all competitors from both NVIDIA and AMD. Chris Coke, in his RTX 4090 review, notes, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." This GPU lets you play any game at 4K with ultra settings and ray tracing, delivering high frame rates, even for the latest demanding titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. It's also the go-to consumer card for AI applications, thanks to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.

A Note on RTX 5000 Series GPUs

NVIDIA's next-gen GPUs, starting with the RTX 5090, are slated for release by the end of January. While the RTX 5090 promises greater power, it comes with a steep price tag of $2,000 for the Founder's Edition at launch, and availability might be limited. The RTX 5080 will hit the market at $999, but it too may face supply constraints. We'll soon benchmark this card, but it will have less VRAM than the 4090 (16GB vs 24GB) and may not fully dethrone the 4090 as the top-performing card.

A Note on Alienware's Newest "R16" Desktop Chassis

The R16 represents Alienware's 2024 desktop PC design, which is 40% smaller in volume than its predecessors. It features an efficient airflow system, drawing air through side intake vents over the GPU and a front 120mm fan, with exhaust managed by a rear 120mm fan and two top 120mm fans. A 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system is mounted to the top fans. Note that some configurations exclude the liquid cooling system, but we generally recommend opting for it due to its superior performance compared to Alienware's stock air cooling. Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in both appearance and design.
