Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam

A Steam leak has revealed details about "Claws of Awaji," the first downloadable content (DLC) for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows. This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, the franchise's first foray into feudal Japan, introduces dual protagonists: Yasuke, a samurai, and Naoe, a shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative reactions to character reveals and multiple delays. The latest delay pushes the release date to March 20, 2025.

Insider Gaming reports that a now-deleted Steam update revealed information about "Claws of Awaji." The DLC will reportedly feature a new region to explore, a new weapon type, additional skills, gear, and abilities, and over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will grant access to this expansion and a bonus mission.

The Leak and Recent Delay

The leak surfaced on Steam following Ubisoft's announcement of another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first postponed to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, to allow for further polishing.

Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

As Ubisoft Quebec prepares for the launch of Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft's parent company faces uncertainty amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. This follows a period of underperformance for several major Ubisoft titles, including XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws.
