Baldur's Gate III's Latest Patch in Stress Test Phase

Apr 25,25

The stress test for what might be the eighth and final major patch of Baldur's Gate III has officially kicked off. Earlier, some Sony console players got a sneak peek at the patch, but if you're not into testing, the developers suggest a fresh install of the game to ensure a smooth experience.

Patch 8 introduces some exciting updates, with crossplay leading the charge. Now, whether you're on a console or PC, you can team up with friends across different platforms, as long as everyone has a linked Larian account. What's more, modded gameplay will also support cross-platform play, but there are a couple of hoops to jump through. All mods used by the PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles, and the host’s lobby can't have more than a double-digit number of mods installed.

On the multiplayer front, a highly anticipated feature is now in testing: split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S. This lower-powered console couldn’t handle split-screen play before, so this update is a big win for its users.

Patch 8 doesn't stop there. It also brings a feature-rich photo mode with tons of customization options and introduces 12 new subclasses, adding even more depth to the game. Larian has tackled bugs and rebalanced gameplay elements, although some issues still linger.
