Blue Protocol Global Release Canceled as Japan Servers Close Down

Bandai Namco has officially announced the closure of Blue Protocol Japanese servers on January 18, 2025. Consequently, the global release in partnership with Amazon Games is also canceled. The company cited an inability to deliver a service meeting player expectations as the reason for this difficult decision.

In their official statement, Bandai Namco expressed regret over the cancellation, stating, "We have decided that it is beyond our capabilities to continue providing a service that satisfies everyone." They also acknowledged their disappointment in halting global development with Amazon Games.

Despite the shutdown, Bandai Namco plans to continue supporting Blue Protocol with updates and new content until its final day. However, purchasing and refunding of the in-game currency, Rose Orbs, will cease. As compensation, players will receive 5,000 Rose Orbs on the first day of each month from September 2024 to January 2025, plus an additional 250 Rose Orbs daily. Furthermore, the Season 9 pass will be available for free, and the final update, Chapter 7, is slated for release on December 18, 2024.

Launched in Japan in June 2023, Blue Protocol initially saw impressive numbers, exceeding 200,000 concurrent players. However, the launch was marred by server issues requiring emergency maintenance, leading to declining player numbers and dissatisfaction.

Despite a promising start, Blue Protocol ultimately failed to retain its player base and meet financial expectations. Bandai Namco's financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, highlighted the game's underperformance, contributing to the decision to end service.
