Northern Summit Button Puzzle Explained

The Northern Expedition update introduces a challenging mountain climb leading to a puzzle involving four Energy Crystals. Three are relatively easy to find, but the Red Energy Crystal requires solving a secondary puzzle. After obtaining the first three, you must speak to an NPC in the Glacial Grotto. This NPC directs you to find five hidden buttons scattered across different islands. Activating all five unlocks the Red Energy Crystal.

All Button Locations To Unlock The Red Crystal

The five button locations are:

• Moosewood Island: Located behind the leaderboard, near the pier, close to the ground. This is the easiest to find.

• Roslit Bay: Head inland from the pier towards a campsite where you'll find the Angler NPC. The button is hidden amongst logs near the campsite.

• Forsaken Shores: Go to the watchtowers on the right side of the island. A red glow from one of the watchtowers (the one closest to the pier) will indicate the button's location.

• Snowcap Island: Travel to Upper Snowcap and locate the Wilson NPC. The button is concealed within the wooden fence adjacent to him.

• Ancient Isle: Visit the unfinished lighthouse. The button is situated on the side of the lighthouse entrance.

Once all five buttons are pressed, return to the Glacial Grotto and speak to the NPC again. This will open the passage to the Red Energy Crystal, allowing you to complete the puzzle and obtain Heaven's Rod.
