Camper Waits for Switch 2 at San Francisco Nintendo Store Before It Opens

The excitement for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, with one dedicated fan already setting up camp outside the yet-to-open Nintendo Store in San Francisco. YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, detailing his flight over 800 miles to be the first in line on the west coast for the console's release and the store's grand opening on May 15.

Super Cafe, who recently moved into a new apartment, humorously acknowledged the financial folly of his decision but remains undeterred. "I've only lived in my apartment for two months. I like, just moved out," he shared. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares."

This isn't the first instance of such dedication; another content creator is similarly camped out at the New York Nintendo Store. Super Cafe mentioned he's mostly going solo but is open to others joining him in San Francisco. He plans to address logistical details like accommodations, food, and showers in a future Q&A video.

The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly consoles, is a long-standing one. With both coastal Nintendo stores now boasting their own campers, it remains to be seen whether this will spark a trend. Nonetheless, the dedication of these creators is undeniable.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025. For those not inclined to camp out, our guides on Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders provide valuable insights, though current tariffs are complicating matters for potential buyers in the United States.
