Breath of Fire IV, the beloved role-playing game from Capcom, has made a triumphant return to PC, 25 years after its initial release. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and in Europe the following year, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. The storyline follows Ryu, a protagonist who can transform into a dragon, as he joins forces with other warriors to thwart an emperor's plans to destroy the world.

Thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for modern PCs and is now available DRM-free on their platform. This enhanced version is optimized for contemporary systems, ensuring full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. It features both English and Japanese localizations, and its graphics have been upgraded using an improved DirectX renderer. Players can enjoy new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and enhanced gamma correction for superior visuals. Additionally, the audio engine has been revamped, restoring missing environmental sounds and providing new configuration options.
