The upcoming reboot of the beloved fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia, has taken a significant step forward with the addition of Carey Mulligan to its ensemble cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan joins a stellar lineup that includes former James Bond star Daniel Craig, Sex Education's Emma Mackey, and Hollywood icon Meryl Streep.

Helmed by Greta Gerwig, who is both writing and directing this fresh take on C.S. Lewis' classic tales, the film will adapt the prequel novel, The Magician's Nephew. This story unfolds before the events of the iconic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Carey Mulligan, known for her acclaimed performances and numerous awards including nominations for Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes, will portray Mabel Kirke, the mother of the story's young protagonist, Digory. Daniel Craig is set to take on the role of the titular magician and Digory's uncle, while Emma Mackey will portray a younger version of the notorious White Witch. Meryl Streep will lend her voice to the majestic character of Aslan, the series' wise and powerful talking lion.

This isn't the first time Narnia has been brought to the silver screen. A previous trilogy released between 2005 and 2010 adapted the initial three books: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. These films featured Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson voicing Aslan.

Greta Gerwig's latest endeavor follows the success of her 2023 film, Barbie, which starred Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling and garnered eight Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Original Song.

Fans can look forward to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, which is slated for release in 2026.
