Jan 06,25

For word game enthusiasts, Codenames needs no introduction. This popular spy-themed board game is now available as a digital app, published by CGE Digital (the original board game was created by Vlaada Chvátil).

What is Codenames?

Codenames is a team-based word association game. Teams compete to identify their secret agents hidden behind code names, using one-word clues provided by their spymaster. The challenge lies in correctly identifying your agents while avoiding civilians and, most importantly, the assassin!

The digital version enhances the classic gameplay with new words, game modes, and unlockable achievements, even incorporating a career mode with leveling, rewards, and special gadgets.

A key feature is its asynchronous multiplayer mode. Players have up to 24 hours per turn, allowing for multiple simultaneous games, global challenges, and daily solo puzzles.

Still a Game of Guesswork!

Players tap cards on a grid, hoping to reveal their agents. A wrong guess—selecting the assassin—means instant defeat. Managing multiple games adds another layer of complexity, but this is part of the engaging challenge. As you improve, you’ll eventually take on the role of spymaster, crafting the crucial one-word clues.

Ready to test your spy skills and word association prowess? Download Codenames from the Google Play Store for $4.99.
