Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at Sequel and Remaster

During a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation, the creators of Resident Evil and Killer7 fueled speculation about a potential sequel and a complete edition of the cult classic Killer7. The focus was primarily on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, but the conversation quickly turned to the future of Killer7.

Shinji Mikami expressed his strong desire to see a Killer7 sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Goichi "Suda51" Suda echoed this sentiment, suggesting possible sequel titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond," hinting at the possibility, however distant.

Killer7, a 2005 action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature stylized violence, has a dedicated fanbase despite lacking a sequel. While a PC remaster launched in 2018, Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" to fully realize his original vision, specifically mentioning restoring extensive cut dialogue for the character Coyote. Mikami playfully dismissed this as "lame," but the discussion highlighted the potential for expanded content.

The prospect of either a sequel or a complete edition has ignited considerable fan excitement. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' enthusiasm alone suggests a future for Killer7 remains a possibility. The final decision, according to Suda51, will be between "Killer7: Beyond" and the Complete Edition.
