Writer Meghan Fitzmartin adapts Grant Morrison's original narrative, with Frank Quitely contributing fresh cover artwork for this audiobook edition (see below). Quitely previously provided the iconic illustrations for the comic series.

This self-contained story explores Superman's emotional journey after absorbing lethal solar radiation during a mission. The plot follows Kal-El as he reveals his identity to Lois Lane, undertakes heroic challenges reminiscent of Hercules' labors, and faces his final confrontation with Lex Luthor.
