Digimon Alysion: A Story Mode in the Pokemon TCG Rival
Digimon's latest venture into the mobile gaming scene was unveiled at DIGIMON CON 2025, introducing fans to the new mobile TCG, Digimon Alysion. This exciting announcement follows the success of other mobile card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, aiming to broaden Digimon's TCG audience with a digital twist. Digimon Alysion is set to be a free-to-play game where players can collect, build, and battle with cards featuring beloved Digimon and characters from the franchise. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, promising a richer experience beyond typical and competitive gameplay.
During the livestream on March 20, Bandai Namco showcased a trailer for Digimon Alysion, offering glimpses of gameplay and introducing an all-female cast speculated to be part of the story mode. New characters include Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon named Gemmon. While an official release date remains under wraps, the presentation hinted at an upcoming closed beta test, with more details to be announced soon.
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 shed more light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara delved into the game's history, main characters, and the unique abilities of various Digimon. He confirmed that players will begin their journey with one of three starter Digimon from the original Digimon Adventure anime: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, as previously speculated by fans and depicted in the game's promotional artwork.
Hara revealed that Time Stranger will feature an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, including fan favorites like Angewomon, Gallantmon, and Agumon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory, which had 330 Digimon. The game's narrative and main characters were also introduced, offering players the choice between male protagonist Dan Yuki and female protagonist Kanan Yuki, both secret agents for the organization ADAMAS, tasked with uncovering mysterious threats. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon will join players on their adventure, which will involve time travel as hinted by the game's title.
The event also featured other significant announcements, including a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these developments, the Digimon franchise is poised for an exciting future, and fans should stay tuned for more updates throughout the year.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is scheduled for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates on the game, be sure to check out our dedicated article below!
