The initial design, codenamed "Joplin," didn't align with the company's live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.

The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." Following years of further development, it was formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
