The game centers around Harry Dresden, a wizard and private investigator battling supernatural threats in Chicago. Players encounter a diverse cast of creatures, including vampires, faeries, demons, spirits, and werewolves.

Alongside Harry, players control Murphy, Susan, Michael, and the Alphas, experiencing storylines adapted from the novels and engaging in "Side Jobs"—random scenarios generated from the short story collection.
