Dune: Awakening to Launch Fully, Offers Optional DLCs, No Subscription
Funcom, the developer behind the highly anticipated Dune: Awakening, has provided crucial updates on the game's business model and post-launch strategy. Excitingly, the game is set for a full launch on May 20, bypassing the Early Access phase. Inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novel and its cinematic adaptations, Dune: Awakening will not require a subscription, despite its classification as a multiplayer survival MMO.
The studio plans to keep the game fresh and engaging through a series of free updates, introducing new content, features, and enhancements. Additionally, Funcom will adhere to a traditional business model by offering optional downloadable content (DLCs). They highlighted their commitment to ongoing support, citing their track record with long-running titles like Anarchy Online and Conan Exiles, which continue to receive free updates and expansions years after their initial release. Funcom assured fans that Dune: Awakening will follow suit, ensuring a continuously evolving gaming experience.
The standard edition of Dune: Awakening is priced at $49.99. For those looking for more, the Deluxe Edition at $69.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $89.99 offer added value. Both premium editions grant a five-day head start and exclusive items. The Deluxe Edition includes the Sardaukar armor, while the Ultimate Edition comes packed with Paul Atreides’ iconic stillsuit from the 2021 film, a digital artbook, soundtrack, unique color patterns, and the Caladan Palace Set with various building components and decorations.
Pre-ordering any edition rewards players with a universal color pattern applicable to vehicles, weapons, and armor, as well as the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, an in-game decoration featuring the famous desert mouse.
