How to Obtain the Falcon Mount in FFXIV
Mounts are among the most coveted collectibles in *Final Fantasy XIV*, and some are undoubtedly more challenging to acquire than others. One such rare gem is the Falcon mount—a stylish and iconic ride that only becomes available during special events. If you're aiming to add this elusive mount to your collection, here's a detailed guide on how to obtain the Falcon mount in *FFXIV*.
What is the Falcon Mount in FFXIV?
As of the latest *Dawntrail* expansion, *Final Fantasy XIV* offers hundreds of mounts for players to discover and enjoy across Eorzea and beyond. Among these, the Falcon mount stands out—not necessarily due to how many players own it, but because of its unique acquisition method.
The Falcon mount originally debuted during the "Fly the Falcon Mount" campaign, which celebrated the launch of the *Stormblood* expansion in Summer 2017. Players who maintained an active subscription for at least 90 days during that promotional period were rewarded with this exclusive mount.
Unfortunately, once the campaign ended, the Falcon mount was permanently removed from standard availability. This left many latecomers and newer players unable to claim it—until now.
How to Get the Falcon Mount in FFXIV
Luckily, there’s a second chance to obtain this sought-after mount through the recurring **Moogle Treasure Trove** event. This seasonal event regularly returns to give players a chance to earn various exclusive rewards—including mounts, minions, furnishings, and accessories.
The current iteration, the **Phantasmagoria** version of the event, includes the **Falcon Ignition Key** as one of its standout prizes. To participate, simply complete qualifying duties within the game. Even GATEs (mini-games) at the Gold Saucer in Ul’dah count toward your progress.
Beyond regular duty completions, the event also features additional challenges via the Mogpendium system. These include weekly tasks and the one-time-per-event **Ultimog Challenge**, both offering bonus rewards upon completion.
Successfully completing these activities earns you **Tomestones of Phantasmagoria**, the event-specific currency. These can then be traded in at the **Initerant Moogle NPC**, located in all three major cities—Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa, and Gridania.
To unlock the Falcon mount, you’ll need to spend **50 Tomestones of Phantasmagoria**. It’s a worthwhile investment for such a legendary piece of gaming history.
Keep in mind: The Moogle Treasure Trove Phantasmagoria event will remain active until the release of Patch 7.2, scheduled for **March 25, 2025**. After that date, the Falcon mount will likely disappear again until the next event cycle begins. So, time is of the essence!
