Since then, gamers have been waiting anxiously for the next batch of playable characters and maps, which is set to go live on January 10.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 is subtitled “Eternal Night,” and will feature the infamous lord of the vampires Dracula as its primary antagonist. This has fans guessing that Season 1 will be focused on supernatural Marvel characters like Blade, and it’s been confirmed that all four members of the Fantastic Four will be introduced throughout the season. As an added bonus, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman’s villainous alter egos, the Maker and Malice, will be added as alternate character skins.

Meanwhile, some Marvel Rivals fans think they’ve uncovered a clue about another future playable character tucked away in Season 1’s new Sanctum Sanctorum map. As pointed out by Reddit user fugo_hate on r/marvelrivals, a painting of Doctor Strange’s mystical assistant Wong can be briefly seen in the trailer for the new Marvel Rivals location, seemingly inspired by his MCU incarnation. This has some wondering if Wong will be added to Marvel Rivals’ playable roster someday, as well as what his magic-powered skillset would be.

Fans Think Wong Could Be Added to Marvel Rivals

While Wong has been a staple of the Doctor Strange comics since the 1960s, he has gained a massive surge in popularity in recent years thanks to Benedict Wong's portrayal of him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the world of gaming, Wong previously made a non-playable appearance in 2006's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance before being made playable in mobile games like Marvel Contest of Champions and Marvel Snap in addition to LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.

Of course, the Wong painting could just be a nod to one of Doctor Strange’s most valued allies, as the Marvel Rivals Sanctum Sanctorum map is filled with references and cameos from the supernatural side of the Marvel universe. Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night will go live later this week, so players won’t have to wait too much longer to challenge Dracula across three new locations or take on other gamers in the new Doom Match mode. Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman will also be added as playable characters on January 10.
