Here’s the official description:

In Civilization 7 - VR, the world of Civilization comes to life in unprecedented ways. The map unfolds across a Command Table, allowing you to view from above or zoom in to examine the intricate details of buildings and units, much like a tabletop game. Players will navigate their civilization's journey and interact face-to-face with iconic world leaders around the Command Table, witnessing their reactions as you form alliances or declare war through the Ages.

Civilization 7 - VR offers both immersive virtual reality and mixed reality experiences, with the ability to switch seamlessly between the two. In virtual reality, players find themselves in a grand museum overlooking a vista tailored to their chosen leader; in mixed reality, the Command Table integrates with the player's physical surroundings. The Archives, a dedicated room within your virtual museum, showcases your gameplay achievements through detailed dioramas, visible in both VR and mixed reality. Beyond single-player mode, Civilization 7 - VR allows up to four players to compete in online multiplayer matches on Meta Quest 3 and 3S.

The base Civilization 7 is already available on PC and consoles for those who opted for advanced access. Feedback from Steam user reviews has highlighted concerns about the user interface, limited map variety, and missing features that players have come to expect. Firaxis has responded to these critiques, promising enhancements to the UI, the introduction of team-based multiplayer options, and a broader selection of map types, among other improvements.

In an interview with IGN before the release of third-quarter financial results, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the mixed reviews from both the press and players. He remains optimistic, believing that the "legacy Civ audience" will grow to appreciate the game with more playtime, and described Civilization 7’s early performance as "very encouraging."
