Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Excellence?
At Droid Gamers, we often receive various gadgets for review, but a projector is a novelty for us. The Formovie Episode One caught our attention, particularly for its ability to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, making it an exciting piece of technology to explore.
Positioned as an affordable option in the typically expensive projector market, the Episode One successfully meets this goal, though not without some minor drawbacks.
Upon unboxing, you'll find the projector itself, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it's not as heavy as higher-end models, its weight of three pounds makes it highly portable, perfect for on-the-go use.
The connectivity options might be limited for some users, featuring only one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. However, given its budget-friendly price, these ports should suffice for most users' needs.
In terms of performance, the Episode One performs admirably for its price point, boasting 150 ISO lumens. Although it may struggle in bright sunlight, it excels in darker environments, as expected. We tested it with various films, TV shows, and streamed games, all of which displayed clearly.
For optimal image quality, we found that the projector needed to be positioned at least 10 feet away from the screen. The built-in speaker's sound quality is passable but somewhat tinny, suggesting that pairing it with an external speaker would enhance the audio experience.
The user interface is a strong point for the Episode One, being both straightforward and user-friendly. Its budget approach simplifies the setup and operation, making it more accessible than some pricier alternatives.
Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single aspect, but it offers a well-rounded experience that should satisfy most casual users.
*If you decide to purchase an Episode One projector before May 27th, you'll also receive a $15/€15 Netflix gift card. Click here to explore this offer.*
