Doom Slayers Collection Rumored for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Return

The Doom Slayers Collection, a compilation of four classic and modern Doom games, may be making a comeback on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The collection, which was delisted in 2024, has recently received an ESRB rating for these platforms, fueling speculation of a re-release. The ESRB listing notably omits Switch and last-generation consoles, suggesting the return will be limited to current-gen systems.

This isn't the first time Bethesda has re-released classic Doom titles. The original Doom and Doom II were previously delisted before being repackaged and re-released as Doom + Doom II for current-gen consoles. This pattern, along with id Software's history of porting titles like Quake II to modern platforms, makes a Doom Slayers Collection return highly plausible. The collection includes:

  • Doom
  • Doom II
  • Doom III
  • Doom (2016)

Adding further credence to the rumors, Doom 64 also received a recent ESRB rating for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The physical edition of the Doom Slayers Collection originally included a download code for Doom 64, further suggesting a connection between the two releases.

Beyond the potential return of the Doom Slayers Collection, fans have another reason to celebrate: Doom: The Dark Ages, a highly anticipated prequel set in a medieval setting, is slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2025. This exciting new entry promises a fresh take on the iconic franchise.
