Civ 7 Devs Consider Bringing Back Past Civs and Their Leaders

Hope remains high for fans of Gandhi in Civilization 7. Following an insightful interview with IGN on February 13, 2025, lead designer Ed Beach shared that while Gandhi might not be part of the initial launch, there's a possibility of his return as a future DLC.

During the IGN interview, Beach elaborated on the exclusion of previous civilizations and their leaders from Civ 7. "We haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," Beach assured. He highlighted the community's curiosity about the absence of Great Britain or England, saying, "Certainly civilizations, there's a lot of consternation right now about where's Great Britain or England, why aren't they in our game?"

Firaxis Games' decision to leave out Britain and India stemmed from the need to balance popular choices with fresh, exciting options. "There're just too many popular choices and we always want to have a few fresh ones that sound really new and exciting to people," Beach explained. He further emphasized the broader strategy behind content inclusion, "So things are getting left behind, but we always are looking at the big picture, when we're going to bring leaders or civs into the fold. So there's hope for Gandhi, yet."
