Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, has boldly predicted that GTA 6 could rake in a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day of release. During an engaging interview with the YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's potential, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing."

He compared GTA 6's anticipated success to GTA 5, which earned over $800 million in its first 24 hours back in 2013. Luke believes that GTA 6 will surpass these figures significantly. Furthermore, according to research firm DFC Intelligence, GTA 6 is projected to sell over 40 million copies and generate $3.2 billion in its first year, with $1 billion expected from pre-orders alone.

The Future Of GTA 5 Characters In GTA 6

Luke also shed light on the potential return of GTA 5 characters in the upcoming installment. While his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its inception, the other protagonists, Trevor and Franklin, have made appearances. Luke hinted at the possibility of Michael returning in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even in GTA 6 itself.

Steven Ogg, who portrayed Trevor in GTA 5, discussed with ScreenRant in January 2025 his ideal scenario for his character in GTA 6—getting killed early on as a symbolic "passing the torch" moment. Luke added, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." While both actors are eager to reprise their roles, no official announcements have been made regarding their characters' involvement in GTA 6.

GTA 6 May Be At Its Testing Phase

Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggested that GTA 6 might currently be in its in-house testing phase. In a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, reported by GamesRadar, York highlighted the game's unique nature, emphasizing its unpredictability: "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."

York believes that the development team is likely refining the game and adding final touches. He noted that GTA 6 could already be in a playable state, suggesting that numerous testers might have already experienced it.

Rockstar Games unveiled the first trailer for GTA 6 in December 2023, but has remained tight-lipped about further details since then. While a Fall 2025 release has been rumored, based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 Financial Report, no official release date has been confirmed.
