GTA 6 Trailer 2 Boosts Pointer Sisters' Spotify Streams

May 14,25

The Pointer Sisters' track "Hot Together" has experienced an astonishing surge in Spotify streams after being featured in the newly released trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which debuted just yesterday.

Within the first two hours after the trailer's premiere, global Spotify streams for the 1986 hit skyrocketed by an incredible 182,000%. Although Spotify's data hasn't been updated since yesterday, "Hot Together" currently stands at just over 250,000 streams, and it's expected that this number will see a significant increase soon.

“Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else,” stated Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial. “Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

PlayIt has been 24 hours since Rockstar Games unveiled the latest trailer for GTA 6, which has already garnered an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube at the time of this article's publication. The dramatic rise in popularity of "Hot Together" is not surprising, especially considering the precedent set by the first trailer released in late 2023. The song featured then, Tom Petty’s "Love Is A Long Road," also saw a similar massive boost in Spotify streams. This sparked numerous fan theories about its potential connections to GTA 6’s narrative, although no such speculation has yet arisen for "Hot Together."

As fans eagerly anticipate the (recently delayed) release of GTA 6 on May 26, 2026, Rockstar is providing them with plenty of great music to enjoy in the meantime. While waiting, you can explore some of the best Trailer 2 fan theories we’ve seen so far, as well as our detailed list of 89 details Rockstar tucked into the video.
