GTA V Enhanced: A Visual Journey Over a Decade

May 04,25

The much-anticipated PC release of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, Rockstar's next-generation version of the iconic open-world game, is now available. This updated edition introduces substantial graphical enhancements and new features, including full DualSense controller support, which promises an enriched gaming experience for PC users.

Key enhancements include ray-traced reflections, updated vehicle designs, and numerous minor adjustments that significantly boost the game's visual quality. The popular YouTube channel GameV recently presented a side-by-side comparison, illustrating the graphical evolution from the original release over the last 12 years. The most striking differences are evident during rainy nights or in shadowy environments, where advanced global illumination and ray-traced reflections particularly stand out. However, in bright, sunny conditions, the differences between the original and the enhanced version are less noticeable.

Despite an impressive launch that saw over 187,000 concurrent players on Steam—surpassing the recent peak of 184,000 for the standard edition—the reception has been mixed. Currently, the game holds a 56% positive review rating on Steam. Many players are questioning the value of the update due to the relatively subtle visual improvements. Furthermore, there have been complaints about issues with DualSense functionality and glitches when transferring characters from the original GTA Online. While some users have reported successful transfers, others are still encountering ongoing bugs.
