The Herta isn't a new face to Honkai: Star Rail players. Many anticipated her arrival, especially given the prevalence of her puppet counterparts in team compositions since launch. Unlike some characters, The Herta retains her 4-star version's path and element, but her gameplay is significantly different. Her kit revolves around "Interpretation" stacks, gained when allies attack, drastically boosting her damage. To maximize her potential, prioritize teams with frequent AoE attacks, especially follow-up attacks, for efficient stack generation.

Her unique ability, "Message From Beyond the Veil," grants allies 80% increased Crit DMG if another Erudition character is present. This makes her incredibly effective in duo DPS compositions. Below are optimal team pairings to highlight her playstyle.

The Herta + Jade + Robin + Lingsha

Best Premium Team Composition

This team—Jade, Robin, and Lingsha alongside The Herta—is her strongest lineup at launch. Each character perfectly complements her kit. Jade, her ideal Erudition partner, frequently performs AoE attacks and synergizes with The Herta's stacking, especially when The Herta is the Debt Collector. Lingsha provides crucial sustain, maintaining high HP for allies, countering The Herta's HP drain as Debt Collector. She also offers AoE follow-up attacks, boosting stack generation. Aventurine is a strong alternative, but his bouncing attacks are less consistently effective than Lingsha's. Huo Huo or Fu Xuan offer support but less frequent attacks. Robin's follow-up attack buffs and general DMG buffs are invaluable, especially in challenging content. Sunday or Ruan Mei are viable alternatives if Robin isn't available.

Best F2P Team Composition

This F2P team uses both Herta versions synergistically. While Herta's follow-up attack is conditional (enemies below 50% HP), they effectively stack Interpretation. Serval is a strong 4-star alternative. Remembrance Trailblazer excels, particularly in Ice DPS content; her summon, Mem, deals True DMG and buffs Crit DMG. Pela is a good substitute, offering debuffs and AoE attacks. Tingyun provides buffs but lacks AoE, making her less synergistic. Gallagher's SP-positive playstyle and AoE Ultimate offer consistent value, though this slot is flexible depending on available healers/sustain options.
