Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector

A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four characters: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.

This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay elements and characters. While the game boasts a roster of 23 4-star characters, many are outclassed in the current meta. However, some remain valuable in specific team compositions, especially with higher Eidolon levels. Previous versions (2.1 and 2.7) offered similar free selectors, facilitating Eidolon acquisition.

The leak, originating from prominent leaker HomDGCat, indicates the Version 3.1 selector will offer a choice between Qingque (Quantum, Erudition), Pela (Ice, Nihility), Serval (Lightning, Erudition), and Asta (Fire, Harmony). All are available via the in-game store. The inclusion of these older characters might suggest a shift in development focus towards 5-star units, a trend observed since Version 2.0.

The game currently features nearly 40 5-star characters, significantly outnumbering 4-star units. With eight more 5-star characters anticipated in the Amphoreus update, and a potential addition of two more via a Fate/Stay Night crossover, the disparity is expected to widen. Version 2.0 only introduced four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). This trend, if continued, could limit the options for future 4-star character selectors.
