Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlocking and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its roster of Breakers. This guide details how to unlock new characters and outlines the playstyles of each. Note that this reflects the early access version; more characters may be added.

How to Unlock New Characters

To unlock new Breakers, you need Abyss Stones, dropped by Crowns (bosses). First, acquire Prisms (keys to boss arenas) indicated by golden diamond icons on the map. After defeating a Crown, use the teleporter at the Cursed Outpost to select and unlock a character using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the process for future characters may differ.

All Characters and Their SyComs

Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core abilities, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Vermillion:

• Default: Gunslinger SyCom: Favors ranged combat; critical hits guarantee a subsequent critical hit.
• Unlockable: Tank SyCom: Rewards perfect parries with increased armor; boasts better defensive and melee stats.

Lapis:

• Default: Lightweaver SyCom: Boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
• Unlockable: Warrior SyCom: Increases core stats with each upgrade, making her incredibly powerful late-game.

Goro:

• Default: Astrologer SyCom: Faster Blade skill charge while shooting.
• Unlockable: Sniper SyCom: Increased critical hit rate; high damage output but vulnerable defensively.
