MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a heartwarming detail: players won't be able to harm dogs in the upcoming game. This decision marks a significant departure from the studio's previous work, such as the Wolfenstein series, known for its intense violence.

"Indiana Jones is a dog person," explained MachineGames Creative Director Jens Andersson in an interview with IGN. While the game features intense combat with human enemies, canine encounters will be handled with a gentler approach. Instead of harming them, players will be tasked with scaring dogs away.

Andersson emphasized the family-friendly nature of the Indiana Jones IP, stating that this decision reflects their commitment to creating a game accessible to a broader audience. This approach contrasts sharply with the more violent animal encounters present in titles like Wolfenstein and Resident Evil 4.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release slated for Spring 2025. Set in 1937, the game follows Indy as he chases stolen artifacts, leading him on a globe-trotting adventure from the Vatican to the Egyptian pyramids and beyond. While Indy's whip will be used extensively in combat against human foes, rest assured, no furry friends will suffer its wrath.
