Infinity Nikki Recruits Elite Developers
Infinity Nikki: A Deep Dive into the Making of a Fashion-Forward Open World
The highly anticipated open-world fashion game, Infinity Nikki, is set to launch on December 4th (EST/PST). A recently released 25-minute documentary offers a captivating glimpse into the game's extensive development journey, highlighting the passion and dedication of its creators.
Miraland Unveiled
The project originated in December 2019, when the Nikki series producer envisioned an open-world adventure for the beloved character, Nikki. Secrecy shrouded the early stages, with a separate office used to maintain confidentiality. Over a year was dedicated to team building, concept development, and foundational infrastructure.
Game designer Sha Dingyu emphasizes the unprecedented challenge of integrating the established dress-up mechanics of the Nikki IP into a fully realized open-world environment. This required building a framework from the ground up, a process that spanned years of research and development.
The team's commitment to transforming their vision into reality is evident. The Nikki franchise, which began with NikkiUp2U in 2012, sees Infinity Nikki as its fifth installment and first foray onto PC and console platforms alongside mobile. The decision to move beyond the mobile-only format stemmed from a desire for technological advancement and a commitment to evolving the Nikki IP, as acknowledged by CTO Fei Ge. The producer's dedication is even exemplified by a clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree, a testament to the passion driving the project.
The documentary showcases the stunning landscapes of Miraland, focusing on the mystical Grand Millewish Tree and its inhabitants, the Faewish Sprites. The vibrant world is populated with NPCs who lead their own lives, adding depth and realism, as highlighted by game designer Xiao Li.
A Team of Titans
The game's exceptional visuals are a direct result of the team's expertise. In addition to the core Nikki team, Infinity Nikki boasts internationally renowned talent. Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, Lead Sub Director, brings his experience from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while concept artist Andrzej Dybowski contributes his expertise honed on The Witcher 3.
From the official start of development on December 28th, 2019, to the upcoming launch on December 4th, 2024, the team dedicated 1814 days to bringing their vision to life. The anticipation for Infinity Nikki's release is palpable. Prepare to embark on an unforgettable adventure through Miraland with Nikki and Momo this December!
