Rumors swirl that Season 5 of MultiVersus could be its last. Insider AusilMV, known for accurate game leaks, cites a reliable source claiming the season is a final attempt to revive the struggling game. While currently just speculation, the situation is undeniably precarious.

The game’s initial launch in 2022 saw explosive success, peaking at 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, a dramatic 99% player drop led Warner Bros. Games to shut down the project in June 2023, labeling it an “open beta test.” A relaunch with updates followed in May 2024, but failed to recapture its former popularity.

Launching in early February, Season 5 represents a potentially last-chance effort to reignite player interest. This relaunch, however, is framed as a continuation after the developers retrospectively classified the initial 2022 release as a "beta."
