Activision's Cancellation Decision

Despite positive fan reaction, Activision shelved "The Invincible Iron Man" shortly after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team unemployed. While Activision never publicly explained the cancellation, Edwards offered several possibilities: delays to the Iron Man film, dissatisfaction with the game's quality, or perhaps another developer was selected for the project.

The game's unique Iron Man design, closely resembling the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book version, also sparked discussion. Edwards stated the design choice was the artist's decision. He promised additional gameplay footage, but it remains unreleased at the time of this writing.
