Jakesh's Fate in KCD 2: To Kill or Not?

Apr 25,25

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, side quests like *Bad Blood* offer a rich opportunity to deepen your understanding of the game's characters and their intricate relationships. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to start and complete this engaging quest.

How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Once you gain the freedom to explore the vast open world of *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you'll need to advance through the quest involving finding Mutt. Your journey will lead you to a clearing near Bozhena's hut, prompting Henry to consider checking if Bozhena has any insights on Mutt's whereabouts.

Approach Bozhena's hut and inquire about Mutt. She'll reveal that her daughter, Pavlena, has gone missing. By agreeing to assist her, the *Bad Blood* quest will be added to your quest journal, setting you on a path to unravel a gripping story.

Gather Information

Your first task is to visit Troskowitz and engage with Baliff Thrush, followed by a conversation with Innkeeper Betty at the local tavern. These interactions will shed light on the reasons behind Bozhena and Pavlena's ostracization from the village.

Next, head to the designated area to converse with the woodcutters. Seek out Woodcutter Dushko for directions to Roman's house. Be prepared to use your lockpicking skills here, so it's wise to save your game beforehand. Inside Roman's house, inspect Pavlena's basket and follow up with Dushko for further clues, leading you to a favored spot of the couple near Roman's house.

Search the Scene

From Roman's house, follow the objective marker down the hill towards the stream. Take a left at the two prominent boulders to discover a blood trail. This trail will guide you to Roman's lifeless body. Continue your search uphill to speak with Hogherd Hugo, then return to Troskowitz's farm to interrogate Hired Hand Straw.

A successful dialogue check with Straw will reveal crucial details about Jakesh and the truth behind Roman and Pavlena's fate. Before leaving, consult with Thrush about Straw's fate. Then, proceed to the rocks south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.

Confront Ota

Confront Ota in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

In the designated area, navigate around a large boulder to find a path. Climb the ladder to confront Ota and Pavlena. To persuade Ota to release Pavlena, you'll need sufficient Charisma to pass the dialogue checks. Opt for the following dialogue choices:

  • “What’s your name?”
  • “Let her go and I’ll let you go.”
  • “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.”

Despite Ota's compliance, Pavlena will ultimately kill him. After their conversation, accompany Pavlena back to Bozhena, who will then request you to deal with Jakesh.

Kill Jakesh or Make Peace

Kill Jakesh or Make Peace in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The final decision in *Bad Blood* involves either eliminating Jakesh or facilitating peace between him and Bozhena. Locate Jakesh at his child’s grave. Here, you can choose to kill him, negotiate peace, or even decide to kill Bozhena instead. Each choice concludes the quest differently.

In my playthrough, I chose to kill Jakesh and then informed Bozhena, receiving a reward in return.

Should You Kill Jakesh?

Opting to kill Jakesh will lower your reputation in Troskowitz but will significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. This path also unlocks a new dialogue option with Pavlena and grants you a necklace that was a gift from Roman.

Alternatively, if you choose to spare Jakesh and broker peace, he will offer you 100 groschen. When reporting back to Bozhena, you can either keep the money or share it with her. This choice will allow Bozhena and Pavlena to reintegrate into the community.
