James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, is known for collaborating with familiar faces in his projects. Now, an actress from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy confirms discussions with Gunn about a role in the upcoming DC Universe.

The DCU aims to establish a successful shared universe, learning from the missteps of the DCEU. While the DCEU had its successes, inconsistencies and studio interference hampered its overall coherence. Gunn, renowned for his work on the Guardians of the Galaxy films, hopes to avoid similar pitfalls, potentially bringing some familiar actors into the DC fold.

According to Agents of Fandom, Pom Klementieff, who played Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy, reiterated discussions with Gunn about joining the DCU. At San Antonio's Superhero Comic Con, when asked about a potential DC role, Klementieff playfully dodged the question, confirming only that Gunn has a specific character in mind for her.

Klementieff expressed her continued desire to work with Gunn, stating, "I just want to keep working with James, so we’re going to keep trying to find ways to do that. Yes, we’ve been talking about one specific character, but I can’t talk about that right now." She also fondly recalled her experience working on Guardians of the Galaxy, highlighting her career journey and expressing openness to reprising her role as Mantis in the future, depending on the project's specifics.

Klementieff's comments corroborate previous statements. Gunn himself confirmed these discussions on Threads, clarifying that she's not cast in his Superman movie, but that they have discussed a different, undisclosed DC character.

Gunn's practice of casting familiar faces, including family members, has drawn criticism from some. However, others argue that this is a common practice among filmmakers, and that judging Klementieff's potential DC performance before seeing it is premature.
