Jason Momoa's portrayal of Lobo in the upcoming 2026 DC Universe movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has sparked excitement among fans. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter with superhuman strength and immortality, is the last survivor of the planet Czarnia. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983.

Momoa, previously known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is set to join the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) as Lobo. The actor has expressed that Lobo is his favorite comic book character, citing aesthetic similarities between himself and the character as a significant draw.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Momoa offered a glimpse into Lobo's role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. He shared his excitement and nervousness about taking on the character, emphasizing the visual accuracy to the comic book version and hinting at Lobo's rough and gruff nature. Momoa also mentioned the iconic bike associated with Lobo, adding to the character's allure.

When asked about Lobo's screen time, Momoa clarified that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is primarily Supergirl's story, with Lobo making a brief but impactful appearance. "It's her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit," he stated.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, marking the start of filming for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The movie draws heavily from the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, alongside Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in June 2026, following James Gunn's Superman movie this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026.
