Jon Hamm, the acclaimed star of Mad Men, is closer than ever to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He's currently in discussions with Marvel regarding a new comic book adaptation that has piqued his interest. Hamm has openly admitted to pitching himself for multiple MCU roles.

His MCU debut almost happened earlier, though unfortunately it fell through. He was slated to portray the popular X-Men villain, Mister Sinister, in The New Mutants during Fox's ownership of the X-Men franchise. However, due to the film's troubled production, his scenes were ultimately cut.

A recent Hollywood Reporter profile revealed Hamm's ongoing interest in the MCU. He confirmed pitching himself for roles based on a comic book storyline he admires, and Marvel's shared enthusiasm for adapting the same story led Hamm to assert his suitability for the part.

The specific comic book storyline remains undisclosed, fueling fan speculation. A popular fancast places Hamm as Doctor Doom, the iconic Fantastic Four antagonist. Hamm himself previously expressed interest in this role, highlighting Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four as appealing characters.

Hamm's career is marked by diverse roles, avoiding typecasting. His recent work in Fargo and The Morning Show keeps him prominently in the public eye, frequently appearing on lists of notable actors yet to join the MCU.

While he declined the role of Green Lantern, Hamm remains eager to portray a compelling comic book character. This aligns with his preference for non-leading roles, making a villain like Doctor Doom a strong possibility, though Doom's inclusion in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot isn't confirmed. A future portrayal of Mister Sinister, under Disney's direction, is also conceivable. Only time will reveal whether Hamm and Marvel's collaborative project reaches the big screen.
