Legendary Entertainment's upcoming Street Fighter film adaptation has found its director: Kitao Sakurai, the creative force behind the comedic masterpiece, The Eric Andre Show. This news comes via The Hollywood Reporter.

Capcom's significant involvement is confirmed, and the film is slated for release on March 20, 2026.

This marks another cinematic attempt to bring the iconic fighting game to life, following the 1994 classic (a cult favorite despite initial critical reception) starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Ming-Na Wen, and the late Raul Julia.

While casting details remain under wraps, fans can anticipate seeing their beloved Street Fighter characters grace the silver screen.

Initially, Danny and Michael Philippou (directors of Talk to Me) were attached to the project but left last summer. Sakurai's selection suggests a potential shift towards a more absurdist, potentially cartoonish, interpretation of the Street Fighter universe – a prospect that excites many fans.
