Logitech's new CEO, Hanneke Faber, recently introduced a groundbreaking concept: the "forever mouse." Faber envisions a high-quality mouse that avoids the need for frequent replacements, focusing instead on sustained functionality via software updates. While acknowledging the need for occasional hardware repairs, she emphasizes the potential for longevity, comparing it to the enduring value of a luxury watch. "I’m not planning to throw that watch away ever," she stated, "So why would I be throwing my mouse or my keyboard away?"

However, the high development costs of such a product might necessitate a subscription model, primarily covering software updates. Faber confirmed this, drawing parallels to existing subscription-based video conferencing services. Alternative models are also under consideration, including a trade-in program similar to Apple's iPhone upgrade program.
