A dream matchup for many: Sonic and Mario on the silver screen! Fans have long championed a collaboration between Sega and Nintendo, and KH Studio has answered the call with a captivating concept trailer. This vibrant short showcases a potential crossover movie, contrasting the whimsical Mushroom Kingdom with Sonic's high-octane speed, offering a glimpse into what such a cinematic fusion could achieve.

Inspired by the phenomenal box office success of the Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog films (collectively grossing over $2 billion globally), the trailer ignites the imagination. While a true Nintendo/Sega hero collaboration remains improbable given their historical competition, the concept clearly resonates deeply with audiences.

In the meantime, fans can eagerly anticipate sequels: Super Mario Bros. at the Movies 2 (2026) and Sonic 4 at the Movies (2027).

Separately, December saw the announcement of a partnership between McDonald's, Sega, and Paramount. Following the successful 2022 toy release, speculation mounted regarding a collaboration for the third Sonic film. This culminated in McDonald's unveiling a new Sonic-themed Happy Meal in Colombia, featuring twelve unique hedgehog toys. Initially, a US release wasn't considered, but McDonald's later confirmed its arrival in the United States, with each Happy Meal including a special Sonic the Hedgehog 3 toy, alongside a side, drink, and choice of McNuggets or burgers.
