Marvel Rivals Rank Reset Mid-Season Proves Too Controversial, Prompting Reversal
Marvel Rivals Reverses Mid-Season Rank Reset After Fan Backlash
In a swift response to community feedback, Marvel Rivals has backtracked on their latest update regarding player rank resets. The game's developers have decided to make significant changes following fan complaints about the mid-season rank reset system announced in Dev Talk 10. This controversial decision would have seen players drop down four divisions, a move that many felt discouraged their efforts to climb the ranks.
Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account has released a new update with Dev Talk 11, reversing the previous plans for player rank resets. After the outcry from the community, the developers have confirmed that there will be no rank reset mid-season. Players will now retain their scores and ranks from the end of the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.
Exciting Updates on the Horizon: Human Torch, The Thing, and More
Despite the reversal on the rank reset decision, Marvel Rivals is moving forward with other planned updates. Fans can look forward to the introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, which will bring the total roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games had previously announced that two new playable characters would be added each season, with each season spanning three months.
Additionally, the rewards for players who reach Gold rank and above will remain unchanged. Those who achieve Gold rank or higher will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while players ranked Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, new rewards will be available for those reaching Gold rank, including another free costume and Crests of Honor for those at Grandmaster level and above.
While balance adjustments are expected following the mid-season update, specific details about these changes have yet to be disclosed.
Marvel Rivals' Commitment to Community Support
The rapid response from Marvel Rivals to the backlash over the rank reset announcement highlights their commitment to listening to their community. Mere hours after posting Dev Talk 10, the developers released Dev Talk 11, addressing fan concerns directly. Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to improving the game, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The upcoming Marvel Rivals mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest news and updates on Marvel Rivals, be sure to visit our dedicated Marvel Rivals page.
