Speaking with IGN at Gamescom, Ed Boon responded to fan worries that Homelander and Omni-Man might share too many similarities in their fighting styles. He explained that the development team is carefully dividing the characters' abilities to ensure players experience them as genuinely different.

Boon stated that while the team had creative freedom to design the characters as they wished, they actively avoided giving both Homelander and Omni-Man identical Superman-like powers. He noted, "Naturally, we can take creative liberties, but we don't plan for both characters to have abilities like heat vision."

Boon further revealed that the team drew inspiration from actions each hero performed in their respective series, translating them into their Fatalities. "They will absolutely play differently. Their core movesets will clearly set them apart. We're well aware that some players initially thought, 'Oh, they're just going to be the same character.'"
