Monster Hunter Wilds: Unique Weapon Designs Revealed - IGN First
It's no secret that fans had mixed feelings about the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, sparking curiosity about whether Monster Hunter Wilds would take a similar approach. Although we've seen a few weapons from Wilds, it's been challenging to form a solid opinion on their overall design philosophy—until now. Monster Hunter Wilds Director Yuya Tokuda has provided clarity on this matter.
When discussing the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda shared: "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design."
This direct comparison to the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World provides a clear answer—fans can rest assured that weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds will not look too similar to one another. While some weapons in Monster Hunter: World did evolve into unique forms upon reaching higher upgrade levels, many remained visually similar. For instance, the final aqua line Sword and Shield closely resembles the final Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the final bone line Long Sword is nearly indistinguishable from the final Jyuratodus Long Sword. These were the most upgraded versions available at the launch of Monster Hunter: World.
In contrast, take a look at the weapons showcased in Monster Hunter Wilds in the slideshow below. Each design is unmistakably unique.
