NieR: Automata's opening introduces players to 2B's mission. After landing and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.

The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is quite powerful but lost after the prologue. Fear not! You can quickly reclaim it once free-roaming is unlocked in the next chapter.

  1. Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is easily accessible near your initial spawn point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, locate the highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, using the ruins to climb onto the road. This path leads back towards the factory.

Descend into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point and stairs leading upward. In this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready to be retrieved.

Your old body is just beyond the sword (to the right), allowing you to recover any remaining consumables from the prologue.

  1. Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

  • Attack: 300-330
  • Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide, powerful attacks that damage multiple enemies. However, its attack speed is slow. Upgrades can significantly boost its damage potential, making it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also integrate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during a quicker weapon's sequence. While this prevents a full Virtuous Treaty combo, it allows you to leverage its high damage output despite the slower speed.
