Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update: New Game Plus Added

Mar 26,25

Team Ninja has rolled out a substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, elevating the game to version 1.0.7.0. This patch introduces exciting new features like New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more, fulfilling promises made to the community back in January. The update is now accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.

New Game Plus allows players to embark on a fresh adventure at any previously conquered difficulty, retaining all unlocked weapons and Ninpo. However, these will revert to Level 1, and players cannot directly jump into a higher difficulty using this mode. Additionally, a quality of life enhancement lets players toggle the visibility of the projectile weapon on their back through the Options menu under Game Settings.

On the balance front, Team Ninja has made several tweaks: enemy Hit Points in Chapters 8 and 11 have been reduced, while the number of enemies in Chapters 13 and 14 has been increased. Moreover, certain attacks by Ayane now deal more damage.

The update also addresses several bugs, including control issues at high frame rates, non-responsive controller vibrations, out-of-bounds glitches, progression blockers, and crashes during extended play sessions. For a detailed breakdown, check out the full patch notes below.

Ninja Gaiden Black 2 was unexpectedly unveiled during the January Xbox Developer Direct. This updated rendition of the iconic action game, powered by Unreal Engine 5, not only enhances the graphical fidelity but also introduces new playable characters and improves battle support functions.

In our review, IGN awarded Ninja Gaiden 2 Black an 8/10, stating, "While fewer enemies with increased health might mean it's not the ultimate version, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black significantly improves upon its Sigma 2 predecessor, delivering a stunning and engaging action experience."
