Team Ninja's long-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4 is finally in development, thanks to a collaboration between Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, and PlatinumGames, facilitated by Xbox's Phil Spencer. The project, discussed since 2017, found its momentum when Spencer suggested the three studios combine their expertise. PlatinumGames, renowned for titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata, brings its fast-paced action prowess to the table.

The surprise announcement coincided with a re-release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remastered version for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC. Initial trailers showcase Ryu Hayabusa returning as the protagonist in a thrilling, action-oriented slasher. Gameplay footage hints at innovative mechanics, including agile traversal using wires and rails, setting Ninja Gaiden 4 apart from its predecessors.

While DOOM: The Dark Ages dominated the Developer_Direct headlines, the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4, a highly anticipated entry in the beloved series, was a significant highlight. The game is slated for release in Fall 2025.
