Nintendo has exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the Switch 2: the new Joy-Con controllers will feature mouse controls that can be utilized directly on the Home screen. Since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, enthusiasts have been buzzing about the potential of the new Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we received official confirmation that these Joy-Con can indeed operate in "mouse mode." This innovative feature allows players to glide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to simulate left and right clicks, much like a traditional mouse. Moreover, two Joy-Con can be used in mouse mode at the same time, either one in each hand or with one in standard mode and the other in mouse mode.

Further details have now been unveiled, thanks to a demonstration on the Nintendo Today app and a subsequent post on X/Twitter. The Joy-Con 2's mouse controls are not limited to gameplay; they can also be used to navigate the Home menu on the Switch 2.

Nintendo has provided clear instructions on how to use these mouse controls: "Place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, and a cursor will appear on screen," they explained. "To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown."

"While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," Nintendo added. "[And] use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." When you're ready to revert to using the thumbstick, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.

Although the full list of games compatible with these mouse controls is yet to be disclosed, Nintendo has showcased the technology working seamlessly with Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
