Nintendo Switch 2 May Get 'Marvel Rivals'

Feb 22,25

Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase, the developer, has consistently ruled out a Nintendo Switch release, leaving Switch players disappointed. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?

Recently, at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we spoke with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about this very question. Good news for Switch fans: a Switch 2 port is a strong possibility!

Wu stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. If we can ensure excellent performance on the Switch 2, we're definitely open to releasing the game. The reason for skipping the original Switch was its limitations in delivering a satisfying gameplay experience. If the Switch 2 addresses those limitations, we're all in."

PlayThe Nintendo Switch 2 was officially unveiled last month. While specifics on its capabilities are still scarce, it's expected to be a more powerful and enhanced system. Intriguingly, it seems the console will incorporate mouse-like controls, potentially making shooters like Marvel Rivals feel more akin to a PC experience. The exact implementation remains to be seen.

The Nintendo Switch 2 lacks a firm release date, but a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd. Marvel Rivals is currently available on other platforms, and we highly recommend it. Our 8/10 review praised the game, stating it "might closely follow established hero shooter formulas, but this allows Marvel Rivals to strongly contend for the top spot in the genre." The Human Torch and The Thing are set to join the roster on February 21st.
