Nintendo Switch 2 Supports 120fps, Up to 4K Resolution Docked

The long-awaited details about Nintendo's next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been unveiled, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. The system supports up to 120fps and can reach 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant upgrade from its predecessor.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to the original Switch, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm but with double the pixels. This allows for a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD that supports HDR, and when docked, it can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.

The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are magnetically connected and can be detached by pressing a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing the gaming experience when playing horizontally. Additionally, the left and right sticks are bigger, and the segment officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio capabilities for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for different viewing heights. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.

Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
