Hideaki Nishino has been promoted to the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), with his new position taking effect on April 1, 2025. This announcement was made through a press release released this evening, which also outlined other significant changes within Sony's leadership.

Sony's current CFO, Hiroki Totoki, will ascend to the role of president and CEO of Sony Corporation, replacing Kenichiro Yoshida, who has led the company since April 2018 following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, who currently serves as SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will step into the role of CFO.

Just last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was decided that leadership of SIE would be divided between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst took on the role of head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino was responsible for hardware and technology. With this recent promotion, Nishino will now oversee the entire SIE operation and lead the platform business group, while Hulst will continue to focus specifically on PlayStation Studios.

Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of SVP of the platform experience group. Reflecting on his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support, and I am very excited for what the future holds."
