Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi

Capcom recently showcased fresh gameplay footage for its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The trailer, premiered during the PlayStation State of Play event, introduces the game's protagonist: the legendary Japanese swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi.

The trailer highlights Musashi's exceptional swordsmanship and showcases a blend of intense action and comedic moments, revealing a playful side to the historical figure. The game promises thrilling sword-based combat against formidable foes.

Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most renowned historical figures. Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the legendary Toshiro Mifune, known for his portrayal of Musashi in classic samurai films.

The game's setting is a demon-infested Kyoto, overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning hellish creatures into Japan. This marks the first new Onimusha game in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
